Went down there this morning to watch the Grandson playing in a under 7 tournament, there was probably a hundred or so parents and grandparents there to watch their children.
We were not allowed in the ground and had to watch from behind a fence and hedge alongside the cycle track which runs some distance away alongside the pitches.
Provided we were all masked up and social distanced I honestly couldn’t see why we were not allowed inside, there was loads of space there. It was disappointing.

One of those rules that doesn't make an awful lot of sense.

The risk of outdoor transmission is basically zero, whether you're one side of a fence or another.

Those rules come from above mate, be lucky they let you stay outside the fence. They could have asked you to leave the grounds.

Ridiculous, if your outside there is no problem, and you really wouldn't have needed masks either.
Disappointing for the kids as well I suspect.

My son was meant to play there today but unfortunately the team didn’t go ahead with it, we never have issues at Meadow View on the weekends to watch, such a shame they made you stand outside.

Also potentially because they are 6/7 years old and some parents at these things are toxic

Because somebody somewhere had to justify their position through the publication of such silly rules.

Common sense is not that common.

Meanwhile it’s a free for all in B&Q.

The fewer parents and grandparents at kids’ football matches the better in my experience.

I’ve watched children’s football for the past 3 years in Gorseinon, Penllegaer, Waunarlwydd, Townhill and Landore and have not witnessed one unsavoury incident involving parents and grandparents.
Are you suggesting that parents/grandparents just drop off their 5 and 6 years old children at these venues and let them get on with it, or perhaps cancel these facilities permanently?

I’m saying that I’ve seen some utterly reprehensible behaviour by parents and grandparents at kids’ football over the years. The adults often shame the kids with their behaviour. All the rest is just you projecting. I’m glad you’ve not seen any unsavoury behaviour. You’ve been very lucky.

Whilst I can appreciate your view here, I've seen every disciplinary issue in local kids football for the last 12 years. It's nearly always parents and grandparents.

It's bad enough at my 8-year old's Primary School sports days. Same blokes every year screaming and shouting at their kids, treating it like the Olympics if they win an event. Bear in mind half these kids can barely run in a straight line. Funnily enough, the toxic ones always turn out to be those whose kids play organised football or help run a kid's team themselves. Obviously not everyone in that position is an arsehole, but too many of them are.

Always makes me laugh when I see some fat old blokes, thinking they José Mourinho, and dressed up in training tops with thier initials on, barking out instructions to eager young kids who just want to run and play football with thier mates... 😂
