Possibly the player who stood out the most for me from last night's friendly was Liam Walsh.
He liked a tackle, wasn't afraid to scrap for the ball and he had great vision and distribution for a pass. He only took one shot but it was a vicious one that the keeper did well to palm away.

While he was utilised alongside Grimes I feel that his best position might be a little further forward than that, maybe even operating in the no 10 position behind the striker.

Stood out as incredibly ordinary? If Byers had come on and done exactly what he did last night, he would have been slated.

I’m not saying he won’t be ok, but last night he looked maybe alright amongst a performance of dross Cooperball.

Yeah I must be honest I haven't understood the reaction to Walsh's performance last night. I thought he was ok, nothing more. Gave the ball away quite a bit and his 40/50 yard switches to the wing seem to be cut out with ease.

Don't get me wrong, no slight on the lad, was probably his first game in a while and is rusty, but still, his performance didn't justify the plaudits he seems to be getting.

I think a lot of the plaudits were to do with the fact he always looked to go forward.

That’ll soon be stopped if we stick with the Shapemeister.
