I'm going to guess that he's not really "off the gear" like he claims.

He looks like an upstanding member of the community and his story is very believable.

I think he ought to apply for a job in Boris Johnson's cabinet, he's got all the qualifications.
 
The Post Office need to stamp out this behaviour....

On a more serious note, this is a big problem in Japan which has many theoretical centurions because relatives don’t report deaths in order to keep the pension giros coming in:

My mother in laws pension payments stopped arriving at some stage last year - when she queried why at the time the reply she had was that she had died a few weeks before
