• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Martins goodbye message

Looking back, the game that summed up MARTINBALL was the game I started loosing interest in his whole ethos of putting our trust in his “Process”

The 11th December 2021

Swansea City 1 v 4 Nottingham Forest
We had 70% possession, they scored 4, and should have had more.

So my goodbye message to him is….

“All the best for the future with your 70% possession stats, and we beat you 1-4 at your place”

Birmingham home.

if i remember correctly, we should have been clear at half time, should have been about 6-0 up going into the break.
We were winning 3-2 at 90 mins, only to lose the game 3-4.

Dont even mention the Millwall game.

Cheerio Russ,

thanks for the 4 Cardiff wins which made history, apart from that, little else to shout about.

Even the wins against Cardiff should be put into perspective.

Cardiff are a complete basket case of a club with a terrible team at the moment and we spend most games singing about how crap they are.

Should it have really warranted the club releasing a range of merchandise when we won both games against them in 21/22? That came across as very cringey and "small time" to me, regardless of the fact it was the first time it had been done.

It seems too many fans have the attitude of "as long as we beat/finish above Cardiff, that's all that matters", which would be all well and good if Cardiff were even a mid-table side but when they're finishing just above the relegation places surely we should have more ambition than that?

It’s just sledging, bragging rights. I’d expect them to take the piss if it was the other way around.

Ha. Perfect.

Usual “manager left say nice things” guff. File under “inconsequential”.

It was courteous and polite. There is value in that. If you're not then nobody pays attention when you decide to be rude.

That Birmingham game was beyond belief. At least we got a point from the Millwall game.

The reality is that if we'd seen both of those games out, we'd have gone into the playoffs as the best team in the division over the last 10 games of the season. :x :x :x

I agree with your principle of not benchmarking us against that shower of shit in any way, but I think the first double in history was fair to mark with a lot of triumphalism. Both clubs have had terrible and inferior teams before now (not least 80/81) but still nobody sealed the deal. I think every opportunity should be taken to rub that in, and it is totally to Martins credit, particularly the 3-0 and 4-0 destructions in one season when we were hardly spectacular ourselves in other games against equally terrible teams.

I suppose it’s the done thing these days when managers move on.
Can never understand the love in some fans have with managers and players. The way Martin was serenaded at times during his two years, was almost embarrassingly god like.
