• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Anyone on here got any pearlers to share?

"You are the artist of your own life, don't hand the paintbrush to anyone else"

"Celtic jerseys are not for second best, They don't shrink to fit inferior players."... The late great Jock Stien

An old teacher of mine (Mr. Walters, Grunter) in Penlan Finishing School for young gentlemen had this saying;
Better late than never, but better never late.
Not motivational but something that stuck with me for the last 56 years.

This John Sparkes 'Siadwell' piece is the complete opposite of this thread but has always made me titter..

"They said to me 'Siadwell, go for it...!'"

I went for 'it'...

'It' had gone....

Great school/concentration camp! My fave was Mr Stanley Harold “Right, right, right” Mugford (as my ‘tag’ implies). Not much of a motivational quote but “I am the Greatest!” Just before punching the Head Master out was a classic! Quite motivating actually…

Ah, old Grunter, after throwing a bunsen burner at me for trying to sneak my coat into his class, took me under his wing and really got me interested in Chemistry. Basically by scaring me into it. He was a very decent bloke beneath the blustering topsoil. The quote that sticks in my mind from him though was, "West, boy, why don't you go to New Zealand and live with the Mammaries". I mean, WTF? (I'd better clarify, I wasn't the West in question, no one deserves to be him).

Oh hang on, motivation, from the same golden Penlan era, Titch Evans at O Level..."if you all work really really hard and do everything I say, you might get a C"

Not so much motivational, but a little life rule I once read in a book and have never forgotten:

Never underestimate your ability to change
Never overestimate your ability to change other people
