Non-essential shoplifting

I used to use this pub in London frequented by office types lunchtime and early evening, and there was a team of shoplifters, 8 to 10 of them who used to meet in there for lunch. You could place orders with them for goods, and someone told me that they were selling counterfeit money in there one time. Crime is just a job for some folk.

I was an 'honorary South Londoner' when I lived in Peckham (or East Dulwich as my girlfriend insisted I call it). In the local you could buy loads of stuff to order. You could also get yourself badly hurt if you said the wrong thing to the wrong nutter. It reminded me of Neath...I didn't leave a forwarding address.

Lived in Le Havre in 1986. We rented a flat in a house on the second floor. Upstairs lived an old woman, Mme Launay she must have been at least 80. Very cultivated she was - opera always blasting from her radio and she was into impressionist art. Anyway she saw us as carrying in a microwave oven that we’d just bought. “Oh no” she said “Did you just buy that? I have a friend at the port. You should have said! “
