Old Records

My old man had a copy of the Rawhide single stashed away somewhere. Frankie Laine didn’t have belt it out. Great song.
Got classics like Do not forsake me on this our wedding night, Gun fight at the Ok Corral etc, the original was on last evening with Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp and Kirk Douglas as Doc Holiday, fantastic film.

My wander through HMV in the Quadrant is more through curiousity of deals on old classic rock bands and the potential mark down prices on their past catalogue . 3 CDs for a tenner , I am there but not same listening experince .

Had original vinyl 45s and 33s back in the day , His Masters Voice gramaphones then went out of fashion .
Nipper putting his ear to the speaker , hope the woofer had a good life .

Pay a visit to Derricks Records , a fixture of Swansea trade from my early years , still going and well done to them .

Will never beat the holding of a newly released Album and then rushing home to play it ASAP .

Derricks next on the list, I'd keep them if I could play them and listen to them, fabulous voice Frankie had.

Jim Reeves was my fathers listening pleasure , nope , then Engelbert Humperdink and Tom Jones .

Somehow Johnny Cash at San Quentin and Folsom Prisons appeared on same turntable , loved it as a youngster .

Bowie came along early 70s , Space Oddity and later Starman changed my music journey going forward .

Trends change , downloads are the norm now , I was ready with my finger on the record button when my favourite track was about to be played , good old 3M Cassette tapes . then made about 200 mtrs from my parents front door in Penllergaer . Another loss to that great community if as it looks like they are downscaling that site .

A pencil fitted nicely into the spool of the said cassette to rewind if tape went AWOL , nice idea 3Ms .
