• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Myself and a friend were on the brink of going to see what was his final farewell to his fans in Birmingham, and which now has a great deal more finality to it due to his passing.

Maybe we should have gone, but the thought of seeing so many of those other bands, that were not to our liking put us off somewhat.

Luckily we did get to see Sabbath play the final concert of their The End tour in Birmingham and, although it was minus Bill Ward on drums, was a mega thrill for the both of us.

Equally lucky was the fact that my friend bought the two tickets for that show from a work colleague who couldn’t make the gig for some reason.

I felt very fortunate to have seen those 3 legends of music play live together that night, and now that feeling has turned to one of being blessed to have been in the same room as the man himself.

Here’s to another all time great who has “shuffled off this mortal coil.”🍻

R.I.P.

Is there a chance the Switzerland rumour had some truth to it or has that been dismissed already? So far all I've seen is that he was surrounded by his family and love

They haven’t released any details so it’s possible I suppose.

I kinda hope he did in a perverse sense, would move the debate on massively. Could be as big a legacy as his music

Devastating news yet not unwholly surprising, boy did he have a good run, the godfather of metal, a massive loss.

As Nina DiGregorio says, for all of his infamous antics and lifestyle that he’s renowned for, it’s sometimes overlooked how talented and gifted he was as a singer and songwriter.

For someone who was known as the Prince of Darkness, it should never be forgotten how much light he has shone into people’s lives through his music, whether that be through his solo releases or with Black Sabbath themselves.

I've been waiting for my mate to get back to me about the date we watched Black Sabbath/Yes in Swansea.

It was in the Brangwyn Hall - 11th September 1970 and part of their "Paranoid" World Tour.

I then found this online - some lineup on one night!!
