Pratley retires

Always felt that he played a big role in us ultimately getting back on top in the game against Reading at Wembley too. Just that extra bit of snap and drive in midfield took the game away from them as the second half went on.

Agreed. We used him a lot off the bench that season to steady us in the last 20 minutes. He was bloody good at it too.

I wonder deep down if he regrets leaving us. I suppose at the time we were nailed on to go down, and Bolton were an established Premier League club. Same with Dorus. Both ended up getting relegated.

On the topic of THAT Pratley goal today I found a full replay including the sky coverage of that game

Camp Camp for England’s camp walk back is hilarious,

“They knew it was going in”? I didn’t. From behind the goal in the South I thought it was wide when he hit it…only at the last few seconds did I twig it was maybe going in.

That’s how I remember it. You could feel the concrete flexing. People talk about the Leeds game but that goal and that moment was he wildest the Liberty has ever been.
It really did shake. I think that day the Liberty truly became “home”. Unforgettable night

Beating Cardiff in the PL was special, the atmosphere in the 2-0 v Cardiff in March 2024 was incredible too, but I doubt anything will ever top that Forest game.

Rewatching it in its entirety made me realise just how close the game was, far tighter than rose tinted memory specs had told me.

Forest hit the woodwork three times and had a pretty solid shout for a penalty against Williams right before the corner where Pratley broke away and won the game.

The actually had more good chances than we did, we just had the superior quality to put away those opportunities.

The sound and atmosphere when the 3rd goal went in against Forest will never be beaten IMO. As others had said the east stand shook as it crossed the line and that has never been matched
