Scores between 1 and 10 where 1 = an absolute disaster and 10 = We smashed it out of the park.

Justify your score.

It’s a mediocre 6 for me:

Positives:
We kept the firepower up front and goal scoring is an essential element of an upwards trajectory.

Negatives:
I thought we might have sold one of the big assets and used part of the fee for paying off Alan Partridge.

The unknown:
We’ve signed three relative unknown quantities. If they are the picks of RM then great. If not then who knows how this plays out.

On paper:

We kept our two top scorers from last season who put away 34 goals between them - WIN
We lost two wingbacks in Wolf and Christie and signed a Brentford youngster and Sorinola - TBD
We lost Downes but replaced him with Allen - WIN
We bombed out just about everyone who can play on the flanks with pace - LOSS
We brought in two attacking midfielders (Okoflex and Cundle) with Pato and Ntcham misfiring - TBD
We paid off Bennett theoretically saving some wages there - WIN
We brought in two young ball playing defenders in Woods and Darling - WIN
Ogbeta is still in limbo, we are paying him for the next four months so RM might as well use him - TBD

Not our best window but certainly not one of our worst either if I am being perfectly honest.
I would give it a 7 out of 10, possibly higher depending on how Cundle, Okoflex and Finchley get on.

At best it's a 5.

We lack pace and wide players. Both absolutely critical to Martin's favoured formation.

Our squad is ridiculously lop sided in terms of numbers. Overstocked in some areas, barren in others.

Perception is becoming reality, and not letting Obafemi go for peanuts has turned the mood. That may be no bad thing as could have been fruity on Saturday otherwise.

Won't know until see what these young lads are like at wing back (Flex and Finn), if they are not good enough to start, then it has been a bad window as our weakest area is again wing back, which makes or breaks Martin's system.

The reason I am giving it 2 is that we have clearly not done what was planned because of poor management from the Doodles. Advertising their desperation, and then failing to achieve a sensible price, setting a strategy of ownership, then ending up with 3 loans. Solving none of the financial issues. Plus, of course, we didn't get shot of Fisher and Grimes...

From a team point of view, then 6, based purely on hearsay about the newbies. Some desperately needed pace by the sound of it. Note to Dave Brent. Develop the players we do have, like Oggy on the left good boy.

Hard to judge at this point, but it’s not been a great window.

Bringing in darling was a very good signing and will be our asset to sell next year I would imagine. Replacing downes with Allen is a win despite no sell on value we have one of the best midfielders in the league.

If we had replaced the wing back positions as well as filling in the CB and CM positions I’d say it’s been a success, however we’ve not really done that and have relied on unknown youngsters on loan. Hopefully it’ll pay off, but Sorinola so far hasn’t impressed (apart from the Stoke game which is encouraging).

Oli Cooper could be the revelation of the season though and feels like a new signing (I know I’m probably getting carried away but he was outstanding against Stoke).

I think we have a squad capable of top half/pushing playoffs. I don’t think we will reach that potential though with our tendency to gift so many chances to opposition teams - Martins stubbornness (especially with goal kicks) will see that we end up in a position similar to last season I think.

1 because we didn't manage to sell the owners or the manager, the squad is a mess, unbalanced with no cohesion.

Lots of planning for the future with young players who may go on to do something. Is there enough quality now though to keep us in the league? Should be, but we won't be challenging that's for sure.

5/10, most of which is for hanging on to the few decent players we had.

Be surprised if Oli gets many games at all as we now have Allen, Undroppable Grimes, Cundle, Fulton, Ntcham and (yep it'll happen) Piroe and Flex competing for midfield spots. Plus Congreve, if he's not the Partridge escaped goat forever now, and Sorinola, if Fin is going to play wingback.

Squad building at its finest. 🙄

The only two we really expected to lose this summer were Downes and Piroe so the fact we've kept anyone other than Piroe shouldn't be put down as a positive, despite the late rumours.

Happy to see Joey back.

Darling looks ok but nothing more. Certainly doesn't look worth blowing 80% of our transfer budget on. Part of a struggling defence.

Wood may be one for the future but again, the price seems steep given where we are. Again, part of a poor defence.

Sorinola looks crap.

We've then signed 3 players on loan who haven't played 10 league games between them.

7 players in, 5 of whom will have no re-sale value.

I'm struggling to even give it a 3/10 to be honest.

4.

Lovely to have Joe Allen back and keep Piroe and Obafemi so points for that. Not bothered about any of the other signings, maybe they’ll do okay in league one.

A bit harsh I feel, Darling has been great and has plenty of room to grow and Wood has been improving quickly too.

On the loans side Cundle is highly rated by Wolves and Okoflex is meant to be electric.

We’ve loaned out players that can’t push for a start in the championship and brought in players that are on the verge of playing in the top division.
Having watched Ogbeta on Monday, I’ve changed my mind and don’t think he’s ready to start in the championship.
We’ve realised that Oli Cooper is more than capable of not only starting but being a star.
Darling looks good but I’m more impressed with Wood. He doesn’t have many games under his belt but looks like he has everything needed to go far.
Our big 4 of Piroe, Pato, Oba and N’tcham have underperformed so far in my opinion.
Joe is Joe. Class.
As mentioned by Ux, pace and energy out wide is absolutely key to the way we play. Hopefully Stevens, Oko Flex and a confident Sorinola will do the biz.
