I have not been taking a great deal of notice of the other sides in the division during lockdown and the general changes that have occurred but what has happened at Reading? How have they changed from the side that we hammered at the end of the season to now be 7 points clear at the top.

I saw on Twitter that they have converted about a quarter of their shots on target into goals. Their Xg is currently 6.29 I know it is early doors but that is a hell of a new manager bounce!

😂 ha ha obviously but they don’t appear to have spent much.

The championship is such a poor division right now, a lot of quality left over the summer. Any team that can show even the slightest bit of ability can do well this year.

We were top at a similar stage last year with an equally high conversion rate

Not saying the same will happen to them but just a reminder it’s early days and a lot can change

New manager bounce and the division is absolutely there for the taking this year. If we keep playing as we did last night we should make the playoffs this year without needing a final day miracle.

That's right but this season bournemouth norwich and watford are no leeds, fulham or west brom, yes they could come good soon but I think the 2 automatic spots are well up for grabs, january will be massive as we wont know where will likely to be re covid and particularly how we are re funds, if we are well in the mix it will be interesting to see if for instance we splash a bit to get a striker or just dip in the loan market again.

Its exactly these kind of circumstances that could favour Neil Warnocks Middlesbrough. If the league can be won by grinding out 1-0 wins on 35% possession, he'll be all over it like a fly on sh*t.

No arguments here. Although if we can stay in the mix until then Gibbs-White could be that impact player and we already have him

I keep forgetting about him, he will sure be a breath of fresh air when he comes back, touch wood we will still be in the mix and mgw will provide cooper with a selection headache.

They difference between our position last year and theirs this year is that they are creating chances and converting them, early last year we were quite often under the cosh most of the game and scoring on the break against the run of play eg Leeds.

I'm sure I read that they only had 4 attempts on target last night but scored with all of them.
No doubt they'll have a blip when things start going against them.

They've not changed an awful lot, apart from the confidence of winning against a fair few easy teams. Apart from a home win against Watford which came on the back of three wins, and with Watford still getting to grips with the new level, they haven't played any decent teams. 12 of their 22 points have come from beating teams currently 16th or below!!!! Three of those wins were at home. Last night's win at Blackburn was a good one, and the point at Boro was useful, but nothing special. I don't expect them to last the course to be honest.

Speaking of Gibbs White, check out his Mrs on Instagram.
Hope he stays a while.
