Roger Whittaker leaves old Durham Town

Up alongside Val Doonican ,with his jumper and rocking chair . Prime time Saturday night tele at the time , oldies loved that entertainment then , only thing on the box . Now hysterical , screaming hosts , audiences so OTT to be ridicolous .

There with Gerry Rafferty , Baker Street , one stick in your head and immediate , I know that song and who sang it .

Sad news, from my generation.
But honestly thought he'd left us years ago.

RIP fella.

Ahh shame. I liked him. Seemed a gentle soul too. But who really knows? Maybe he was the Russell Brand of his generation.

I hope not, like. My mum had all (ok, one) of his LPs.

RIP Roger. A friend of mine toured with him a while back, said he was a nice guy.
