👍

I bought a house in the Ferry in the 90’s and the Vetch groundsman Harold Woolacott lived down the road.
He used to call in for a cuppa and advise on the lawn.
It was like a f*cking bowling green.

Lovely for you.

Someone at the Vetch should have offered him a cuppa because the pitch was a f*cking mudbath. ;)

Did he recommend sand or topsoil?

Judging by the state of the Vetch pitch towards the end of the season I'm going for sand 👍

God bless HW by the way 🙏🖤🤍

Good quality turf, more expensive but better, in my opinion.
Got to prepare the soil well to have the best results.

My front lawn needs a major overhaul and theres areas at the back that are shaded, being overtaken by mind your own business (bstard stuff). So I read up on the best approach to reseeding and one website recommended digging 25cm down.

I don't think my scarifier will manage that.

Was it because no-one was allowed to use it other than 2 hours on a Sat afternoon?

Just buy twice as much as you need and lob all over is my current strategy after i murdered it with mosskiller. Does anyone remember that it was rumoured that the turf for Wembley was from Penclawdd?

Yeah, I remember the Wembley thing, sea washed turf from Penclawdd. The the story morphed into, a quarter of the pitch was from Penclawdd, a quarter from England and so on.
