Thanks for all the good advice lads, just put a load of seed down and waterd it, not looking for a billiard table, just something that looks pleasing on the eye

As long as the seed is in contact with the ground it will germinate and sprout and watering it will help push the seed down onto real ground level.Just keep it lightly watered. The only reason it won't work is if you've got a bed of moss as the seed won't penetrate it.
