Seeding the lawn, sensible answers only pls 👍

Thanks for all the good advice lads, just put a load of seed down and waterd it, not looking for a billiard table, just something that looks pleasing on the eye 😀

Just buy twice as much as you need and lob all over is my current strategy after i murdered it with mosskiller. Does anyone remember that it was rumoured that the turf for Wembley was from Penclawdd?

Sound advice KK 🤣

As long as the seed is in contact with the ground it will germinate and sprout and watering it will help push the seed down onto real ground level.Just keep it lightly watered. The only reason it won't work is if you've got a bed of moss as the seed won't penetrate it.

I chuck a load of seed down very spring cos it’s really patchy then around June every year I realise I’m not that bothered and just work with what’s there.

Cheers mate, will give it a bit more water tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
The top part of the lawn is fine because it gets plenty of sun, it only the bottom section that is patchy as it's mostly in the shade.

I think that's the probable outcome for me to be honest 😒

You can get grass seed that's suitable for shaded areas, worth a try mate👍

Excellent mush, on the case already 👍

Drainage is my issue in the back garden. Thought I’d sorted it a few years ago but it still takes ages to dry out properly after a soaking. Better than it was mind, we used to have pools of standing water for days after a downpour.

Charming.

Watch Premier Lawns on YouTube a firm from Belfast gives excellent advice and instructions

As already posted, just get 2x seed, water and it's surprising what the birds miss. I watched a 40 x 8 m side garden blossom on that basis. Lush now.
