Good to see Swansea Council giving this the go ahead with Planning Permission, despite the pathetic efforts of Llanelli politicians to derail it by threatening to ask Welsh Govt to call it in. They argue it undermines the decision making about the number of professional regional clubs and also is unnecessary as Parc Y Scarlets is relatively nearby.

St Helen's has hosted rugby union continuously for over 150 years, staged the first ever Wales international home match and has iconic historical status for oval ball and hard leather ball on a seafront location.

In comparison, Parc Y Scarlets has hosted rugby for only 17 years in a soul-less location with bugger all around it.

An example of tribal Welsh politics at its worst.

It’s cut throat because there will likely only be one professional team in the West and Llanelli hold most cards. This was pathetic though. Planning was never going to be the issue. Funding release is the issue.

There’s talk of St Helens becoming the base for Wales’ womens rugby. Plus the University.

Not half the place without the Cricketers.
