As many of our members will be aware, over the past couple of years, we have been actively supporting the wide range of work carried out by the Swansea City AFC Foundation where the Trust also have a permanent representative on their Board of Trustees.
Following the success of the latest Swans Big Sleep Out, the Swans Foundation are now delighted to announce the second challenge of the season – a cycle ride from Oxford United FC to Swansea City AFC ahead of our last game of the 24/25 season.
Paul France, Head of Swansea City Foundation, said “Organising sponsored events is a crucial part of the Foundation’s strategy. It allows us to raise funds which enables us to work closely with partner organisation to deliver some real impactful programmes.
“The cycle ride will hopefully raise funds which will support two crucial areas of work. It will support the amazing Health and Wellbeing work being delivered by the Foundation, and it will enable Swansea City Foundation to work with Street Child United to take 10 street-connected young people from across Swansea to represent Wales in the Street Child World Cup in 2026. This will be a real life-changing event for the young people involved.
“My aim is for the Cycle Challenge to become an annual event, cycling back to Swansea for the last home game of the season from the team we are playing, whether that is Cardiff or Sunderland.
“I hope that Swans supporters will get behind the challenge and help us raise some valuable funds over the coming months.”
Swans Trust Support
We are pleased to confirm the Swans Trust will be supporting this latest event and have already pledged £1000 towards getting it officially launched this week. Members of the Trust Board will also be assisting the Swans Foundation during the event.
The Foundation have decided to limit the number of places for this inaugural event to just 50 riders this year, with the aim to grow numbers year on year and last week our current Trust members are being given an early opportunity to take up these places before they went on general release.
Dave Dalton, Trust Chair added “We are delighted to again support Paul and the Foundation in this latest fundraising challenge of theirs. The wide range of work they do all across Swansea and the surrounding area is excellent and often goes unnoticed by many of our supporters.
Hopefully by helping them in this latest challenge will improve awareness not just of the Foundation but of the two worthwhile causes that this event is focusing on”
