Well done to the club. To the large social media platform companies it might only be a small thing but everything' has to start somewhere. Let's hope others follow.

Twitter and Facebook won't give a sh*t about Swansea boycotting social media, however if the other more prominent clubs also joined in (Liverpool and Man Utd have had plenty of racist abuse to their players too in recent months) then that might make the social media fat cats sit up and take notice.

Nobody’s going to give a sh*t about it.
Nearly all the abuse is through anonymous accounts.

This has to start somewhere and I’m glad that it’s SCFC who are towards the front of the charge.

If a lot of the prominent celebs and footballers start closing accounts, the social media companies will soon take action.

Pleased but think it could also be keeping Cooper safe, not from direct abuse but from the honest comments about our hoofball and his capabilities.

It's a start I just hope all abide by it following the statement. Unfortunately these media sites are like a drug to some users and the temptation may be too much. Let's hope not.

Shocking post that. Shameful in fact.

Dear God. There is some awful stuff posted but that’s right up there!

It may be a gesture that achieves little but it also may be the start of a wider movement. Whichever turns out to be the case, very proud that we are taking a stand.

Huge kudos to all at the club for instigating this.

Bold move. Hope nothing important happens.

Nothing will be of such importance that it outweighs the fact that our players, and players everywhere, are repeatedly being abused because of the colour of their skin.

I suppose it’s a start, imagine you had all 92 clubs doing it for a week, social media companies would soon start to take notice.

Whether it would do anything is another matter though. Make no mistake, the people boycotting will be craving their 100s and 1000s of ‘likes’ already. The social media companies have got these people sucked in. Social media is truly a drug, but that’s probably for another thread.

If there is no change, people will still want to log on to share their ‘wonderful’ lives for the hits, views and likes. This is the problem.
