Good point here about the ref - in the end it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but you'll not see many better examples of a ref being out of his depth in a match of this magnitude. He was weak from start to finish.

He simply did not want to make the difficult and big decision. The simple fact he was hauled off at half time tells you that Bulut knew he was a red card in the making and should have been dismissed well before he had the chance to take him off.

Still its sweeter beating them so easily with eleven men...

VAR would have sent him off without a doubt. There was one camera angle they found which was particularly damning and would have seen it sent to the referee to review 10 times out of 10.

The trip was petulant and again he was lucky not to go there was no attempt to play the ball whatsoever.

He even dodged trouble a third time by sarcastically clapping the ref when he won a free kick in first half stoppage time.
