Here we go. England will do extremely well to get something here, they haven’t won here since 1986 and Oz don’t lose in pink ball cricket.
So they can relax as there are no expectations. A free bite for the dog.

Ten ducks in three innings tells a story.
As does only 3 batsmen over 20 in the innings and a continued failure to get to a second new ball.

Still, if Archer can whang them to 300 now, it will be interesting to see how important Root’s proper cricket turns out.

Edit make that 4.

Also, just read no team has ever lost a day night test after scoring 260+ batting first…

A thoroughly entertaining day, a mix of brilliant bowling, some silly shots but also some strong resilience in the last hour.

If they’d gone in at 264 all out they’d have been on the back foot. At 325 or more they are well on the front foot and will be pretty chipper. They are in a good place now to put the bogey to bed I reckon, and deliver a heavy blow to Aussie pride. Long way to go, obvs, and they’ll probably have to bat properly for another innings, so there’s that.

Runs on the board when they were flowing or a crack with the pink ball under lights, a tough choice for Stokes. FWIW I think he called it right.
