Had a season ticket with my grandfather in there for 8 years. 1977/8 to 1984/85 when my grandfather died and I went away to college a couple of months later.

All the way from the fourth to the first and back.

Loved that stand. Such memories. Not least Cardiff fans below us and people shouting down at them and seeing bottles being lobbed up.
Super swans, super swans, super swans...

I had 2 x ‘ Father & Son’ tickets in the Double Decker as they were called then from 1977 Huw JENKINS’ Dad Gordon (lovely man) sat in front of us who was Huw supporting then before Jack to A Judas ….???

Shit Goalkeeper & Sellout Shareholder get out of our Club

One of us would pay to go upstairs, then drop the ticket down one by one so the rest of us could go up on it (except when the wind blew it onto the pitch 😂).

And tip coke between the cracks down onto the away fans below…and try to gob between the cracks too…happy days 😅

Big thanks for that pic.

Any idea what year it was?

Given the crowd size I reckon that's FA cup v Arsenal 68.
My parents always watched from behind the goal under the stand while I was on the North Bank.

I would say earlier , looking at the writing on the stand, dont forget crowd sizes weren't accurate in the earlier days. ;)

I was a North Bank boy mostly but i remember being under the DD when we played Bristol Rovers and Martin Thomas put on a GK display that I remember to this day. Talked to some of the old boys who played and they agreed one of the best at the Vetch, memories have faded now but a couple of full stretch top corner tip over/around still linger. Anyone else got better memories.

It's the F.A. Cup tie with Newcastle United 23/02/1952.

We lost 1-0

There was nearly 28,000 in the ground.

My first year as a season ticket holder aged 8 up in the double decker. 77/78 season. Moved onto the east stand. Great days

Earliest game I remember watching from the Double Decker was Wales vs Czechoslovakia in 1971. We lost and there weren't many people there.

I watched the Leeds 5-1 game from up there. Distinctly remember the feet stomping thing. Also, the winding narrow stairs to get out which would have given a modern day health a safety officer palpitations.
