Bit weird weren’t it? Was it to stop a minutes silence possibly being interrupted?

It was being interrupted before it even started, correct decision IMO

Aye, when I saw they were setting up for what I assumed was going to be a minutes silence I was shaking my head knowing that it would be an utter disaster. Glad common sense prevailed, even though i agree with the op that it was a little weird.

Any attempt at a silent tribute was doomed to failure. I think that was the intention mind and they changed it on the fly when the yelling started during Kev John’s intro.

I don't recall us ever doing such a thing before to recognise the anniversary?

Was it done to try and broker some sort of peace between the two sets of supporters?

We always do it for Aberfan, or at least we've done it plenty of times before. Rightly so as well.

I can confirm that it was always going to be a minutes applause, some people at the club aren’t thick and knew what would have happened had it been a minutes silence.

Fair enough.

Are you inferring that some people at the club are thick?

It was announced beforehand that there would be a minute's applause. With idiots there it's all they could do.

It's really sad that we can't expect a stadium full of Welsh people not to be quiet for a minute for that. Same as my comments about Sala, Gas, Horse etc. Just scum, on both sides.

Applause the right choice, obviously, but applauding when remembering a disaster just feels wrong.

I share your frustration, if we can't be quiet remembering the tragic loss of 116 children and 28 adults, we are losing our way.

Glad I’m not alone, but yeah, it’s sad that we can’t expect 20,000 welsh people to stay silent for 60 seconds to show some respect for a disaster that affected so many people and still does to this day nearly 60 years on.
