The Ospreys Tonight

I enjoy both, but was brought up with Rugby and went with my father every weekend, he was an Aberavon fanatic and we’d traipse to all parts of the Country including Gloucester to watch them.
As I grew up football one of took over and I still enjoy both sports, but of late if truth be told the pendulum has swung back towards rugby. The way the Trust were treated has left a bitter taste.

I didn’t watch the Ospreys last night but they were lamped which, in all honesty I expected. The Ospreys supply over a third of the Wales squad and losing that number of players plus injuries means it’s effectively a second / third string team.

The fact they actually play games with their players away on international duty absolutely baffles me.

"All parts of the country including Gloucester" made me smile. Did you ever get to the far flung wastelands of Bristol or Bath, Major?

I was brought up in Baglan and went to Glanafan Comp in Port Talbot. The father of one of my classmates was the Bravs' club sec and he used to recruit a handful of us to run the turnstyles for their home matches. If the Swans were away, I'd be working there and watching the match for free afterwards. Saw all the great players of the seventies there, Phil Bennett, JPR, Gareth Edwards, Gerald Davies, Merv the Swerve, Barry John. Great days. Who's the old lady who used to sit in the main stand shouting her head off while watching her son play second row for the Wizards?

Mrs Mainwaring, once met never forgotten. Her son was Billy Mainwaring, he was an old fashion no nonsense second row who played for Wales.

My old man once told me a story that after Billy had retired from rugby, he’d decided to make a comeback. To get himself fit he used to run around the Talbot Athletic Ground with a bag of cement strapped to his chest/stomach. In those days it would have been one of the big 112 pound bags and not the little ones we have these days. A frightening thought.

They have 14 players away on Wales international duty.

Don't mind the egg, too many infringements with the new rules and players getting carded for absolutely nothing (health and safety gone mad) is spoiling it for me.
Also, every feckin try is analysed over and over at least five times from every angle before being awarded/disallowed.

I would think all the ex-pros engaged in legal proceedings over early-onset dementia would strongly disagree with your suggestion that new rules are 'health and safety gone mad'.

Aye, same as the ex pros from the round ball game going after compensation, I played football for many years, twice every weekend, got smashed about a bit too, took the nocks, arthritis in both ankles from breaks playing football, but, my choice.
All about opinions though, aye ...

Very true, used to play rugby first game 8yrs old last game 49yrs old. Also love the Swans. If you don't like it fine.... plenty do. I am not fussed on the music some people like but would not gloat if the particular band broke up. It takes a special type of moron who gleans delight from other folks bad times.
