• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

For all who buy their wines at ALDI and Lidl's, what do you recommend in Red's and Whites?

We usually buy from Tesco or Morrisons, usually from the Yellow Tail range, Shiraz, Merlot, Malbec etc, tried a Dark Horse Malbec last week very nice, Tesco's Finest range seems to have stopped its not been on their shelves for a good while, Apothic have produced a Merlot now, that's very nice.

Come on all you Wine Bods

These are both Lidl, Max. Under seven quid a bottle and both perfectly drinkable. I try and keep a few of each in the rack.

If you want something a bit more “upmarket”, Tescos finest was 25% off six the other day (not sure why Swansea wouldn’t have any finest? Loads here.) The Rioja (reserve or, better, gran reserve) is very decent for the price with 25% off. It’s from Baron de Ley. High quality vineyard, that one.

Aldi no idea. Lidl’s Barolo is shite.

Don't know where you'd find it there but almost any Ribera del Duero is normally smooth and more than acceptable

The 25% off offer is still running.

Day off tomorrow so I’m having a Piccini Memoro this evening. It’s one of our regulars and I usually buy a dozen when it’s 25% off in Tesco. It’s about the best I’ve tried for sub £9.

What is that a shiraz, merlot of malbec etc those are the three we mostly drink and the apothic

If you want a class white wine, try the white rioja Campo Viejo which they sell in Morrisons. It's about 7 quid a bottle, but it's not much cheaper in Spain.
I like a drop of Campo Vee Ajo Ree Oja.

Baron De Ley's white Rioja is nice too. Love their normal rioja too (they also supply tesco finest rioja reserva and gran reserva, which is very good but not quite their 'proper' stuff so cheaper but excellent value).
