• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

There's a very interesting opinion piece in the Guardian today by regular columnist Simon Tisdall re Putin's aggresion.
He's basically saying sanctions aren't working, the Russians are taking ever more territory, killing more and more civilians, meanwhile the dictator is holding the Western world to ransom with a stranglehold on energy, stifling world food supplies and flooding the west with refugees. He's caused rampant inflation and the winter in prospect is a cold and miserable one for everyone opposing him. He thinks the strains will inevitably cause the western alliance to fracture, which will lead to even more aggression. Maybe the Baltic states next.

What he argues is that the time has come to actively oppose Russia with the West's overwheming military might.
Now he doesn't say how to go about this, and there's no mention of Putin's nuclear weapons. What do people on here think of this point of view?
I'm not sure. I see the logic of his arguement, but it's an incredibly dangerous one.
I suppose the first step would be to declare a no fly zone over the whole of Ukraine, but that would have to be followed by a no missile and no artillery zone, which implies hitting non complying Russian assets outside Ukraine, and on the sea. What next? Drive the Russians out of the country completely? Would Putin's own side get rid of him if faced with military defeat and humiliation? I think this debate is going to get louder as the year progresses.

it will be squeaky bum time this winter that is for sure.

Never mind, Penny Mordaunt will sort Vladimir out.

Putins attack on Ukraine isn't going away, at some point NATO will have to front up, if it takes crushing the Russian advance with western firepower then that's what we must, and will have to do.

Unfortunately it's looking increasingly likely it's the only way to get this to a conclusion.
Buckle up...

Stop all Russian oil and gas exports now,if Europe has to have power cuts then so be it
Put pressure on China to fall into line with the rest of the world , Putin is crazy , he would absolutely have no qualms about world war 3 if NATO attacked Russian forces in the Ukraine and nobody wants that , hopefully he gets removed by the army

The sanctions are working, they just take time to have an impact and that impact will be partially negated by the high cost of oil and gas which is propping up the russian economy. additionally the best part of the sanctions isn't the financial stuff (it helps though) it's the tecnology transfer/embargo stuff. Putin's arms suppliers can't get the specialist stuff for tanks, fixed wing or rotary aircraft. hilariuosly most of the technical stuff not built/supplied in the west came from... Ukraine.

He's a bully, and the only way to get rid of one is to front him up. He won't press the button, he's a fckn coward.

Easier to think the unthinkable when we’re not the ones who’ll be sent to do the unthinkable.

What would happen if Putin was assassinated? Reprisals? They would need to elect a new leader who may less unbalanced than Putin and may realise that the current situation will not do Russia any good in the long term and will continue to cause them all sorts of problems in the short term as sanctions kick in and tighten.

Personally I think the only aggressor here is the Ukraine, you can't huddle up to Nato and expect zero consequences, it's as simple as that.

Ukraine should just back off.

Has anyone noticed that a lot of the anti-vaxxers / flat earthers, have now moved onto Ukraine are the bad boys. What gives there then, is it just lack of intelligence? There's got to be more to it than that surely.

Contrarians and conspiracy theorists. They have this massive superiority complex which comes from them “knowing” stuff that the rest of us sheeple either don’t know or ignore. They’re twats mostly.
