So I very much enjoy being able to watch Glamorgan on YouTube these days. Settle myself in for the day I do. Happy as a pig in effluent. Occasionally though, I have to pop it on mute to undertake fatherly duties. Every now and then the little girl goes on a right one. Waffling on about all and sundry. I’m able to ignore most of it but there are certain pertinent points for which she wants absolute attention.
Looking up at the moon the other day she tells me that’s where vooshing stones come from. Say that again I said, puzzled, both by what she was on about and the fact that David Lloyd played so well but got out to such an ‘effluent’ ball, to receive the same response. ‘Daddy, the vooshing stones start by the moon and go all the way to earth’. By this point I’d switched off from the cricket and had proceeded to Google the apparent nonsense coming out of her mouth.
Then it hit me. ‘Do you mean asteroids, comets or meteors’, showing her a photo on my phone. ‘Yes that’s it daddy, that’s a vooshing stone cos it goes voosh from the sky down to the earth’. After laughing for a while I realised that it made perfect logical sense if you think about it. Marvelling at how clever she is at 4 she then followed it up with ‘but I don’t know why they always end up down the back of our toilet’
I s**t you not
