When I first moved in with my wife and baby in Briton Ferry there was an old fella called Sid living directly opposite.
I would call to see Sid now and again,he was writing his memoirs and told me that he was on a ship in the English Channel during WWII with the cavalry.
He said the men were on the ship and the horses in the hold when a German bomber attacked them and sunk the ship.
All the men and horses were in the water and as the ship went under Sid got sucked down into the funnel, with that the ships engines exploded and shot him out like a torpedo.
He grabbed onto a horse and lived to tell the tale.
What a man.
Lest we forget.
