• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I’m in this boat too. His biggest mistake IMO was the chopping and changing between goalkeepers which probably cost us 5-10 points.

Suggesting a team that was based largely around 6/7 players that had little to no experience of senior football ‘should have’ made the playoffs is rewriting history based on the players they became.
We had a strong starting XI that season but not a whole lot to come off the bench if memory serves. Add to that the fact that Dan James was only discovered in October and had his best form in the final few months. It’s not like we were this incredibly settled side from the off.

Yep. That’s fair.

On paper we had Fer, Olsson, Dyer & Rutledge but for a variety of reasons none of them even played 50% of the games. Montero never started a league game.

Squad players (probably numbers 16-20) included Declan John, McKay, Asoro, Baker-Richardson and Dhanda. Depending on who you feel is responsible for recruitment I guess some of that can be placed at Potter’s door though.

Ironically I noticed he started Nordfeldt in Sweden's playoff wins recently, having started two other goalkeepers in his first two games in charge. I guess some things never change.

Tbf the 1st & 2nd choice keepers were both injured, but it seems pretty incredible that he’s still 3rd choice…although then you look at the 3rd choice keepers for Wales & Scotland it’s maybe not so strange 🤣

Ah fair enough about the injuries, I didn't do my research there. Fair play to Nordfeldt though, he must have played his part over the two games to get them to the World Cup.
