• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out.

Where will people be posting

I'd probably give Vital a go if enough posters from here made the move.

Having seen plenty of posters I like conversing with indicating they won't move anywhere else once this forum closes, I imagine I won't be posting anywhere else either.
Would you move to a new forum that was made to be a replacement for this one?

Has to continue. Personally clueless on the technical side but eg monitoring site for unacceptable content I’d chip in as I’m sure others would. But there’s no shortage of would be censors I suppose.

Question.if any technical help was required to run the site, would that be paid for or is it purely voluntary. I may have a contact but would need to know how it works.

I’d imagine, and I could be completely wrong. But the margins wouldn’t be there to pay people. I think this would have to be a good will thing from anyone involved, which again makes it tricky. Ad revenue isn’t massive and it would be enough to cover the cost of site and not much else without massive traffic.

Ok thanks Flash. 👍

I’m gutted this place is going. I can set up a new forum also, but I’ve got a young boy and another on the way imminently. I don’t have the time to run a site on my own at this point in my life. I’ve seen a fair few posters who say they’re capable but not willing to solely take on the responsibility.

I’m happy to get involved with a group of people working together to get a new forum set up. Because it will be a shame to see this community get scattered like it will be if there is no replacement. I’m guessing the current mods will be happy to continue in a new forum?

There’s definitely enough willing and skills to get a new site up and running if we can get a working group together.
Pretty much where I am, setting up the software/UI/hosting/domain is no sweat but 2 young kids and a job that wants to kill me means a shortage of time.

Phil has not passed surely it would be easier just to ask him and say come on board for a month please, once a new board was set up just to oversee the smooth transition.

Is there a way that this current site, could be handed over? with all the digital infrastructure already in place?
