There are several differnt arguments being criss crossed here. Its a similar argument to gun controll If we cant control what people do with a potentially dangerous entity, is it safe to make that entity widely available? The facts are that there are deviants everywhere. I would suggest that until it is figured out how to mitigate the obvious risks inherent in this impressive new tool, it should not be available to the public. Thats not censorship. Thats responsible product roll out. All Elon needs to do is remove the functionality, say "My bad"and move on. Release it in a safe manner. However, Censorship is preferable to enableing, in this particular situation, in my opinion.

It’s not putting people in bikinis though. The right wing media are pretending it is to hide what is actually happening. Which is grok is manufacturing vile pornographic images of women and children.

The police here are now following up on the people in this country who’ve asked grok to manufacture such images of kids ‘to try it out’.
It’s ’for a laugh innit’ they’ll cry as they get put on the sex offenders’ register and charged with having indecent images of children.

Anyone defending it in the name of free speech (I know no one is on here btw but many are on social media) are basically sick perverts.

The government has rightly told Musk to sort it out and if he doesn’t they should absolutely ban the whole lot. The EU will do the same, Australia the same and probably more. That’s almost 600m customers gone. I bet they’ll sort it out then.

I have seen several people saying defending Grok be saying "it's only putting people in bikinis" and "what do you wear to the beach then?"

That on it's own would be bad enough. It's mysogynistic, manosphere, rape cultre BS, all freely available to anyone on a platform owned by the man who accused Starmer of being complicit in dealing with Asian groooming gangs in the UK.

Personally I'm begining to wish the internet had never been invented.

I've always enjoyed the thought experiments of 'what would the world today be like if..?' What would the world be like today if Hitler had never existed, things like that.

I'd say being able to see what the world would be like today if the internet had never been invented would be a fascinating thing to experience.

I wouldnt have children. I met my American co parent online. (never married)

Wouldn’t people just use VPN’s to get around the UK restrictions? Or won’t the images still be created in other countries. Unless every country restricts it or unless Grok itself is restricted, then this will continue.

The problem we have with the internet these days is the rules of online behavior have been written by men and rather dangerous ones at that.

A very good point. And one that doesn’t just apply to online life. These are pretty dangerous times for women.
