"We've improved areas and certain parts and it's different to last year, I accept that, but we need a solid foundation. Last year Swansea was 24th in the league for xg (expected goals) against, this season we're fifth.

"I know some will say I'm talking nonsense because we haven't won but it's not smoke and mirrors, that us trying to build a platform and a strong defensive shape to start becoming better with the ball."

Does he realise that being fifth this season means we're likely to concede more this yr (22/23: 1.25 compared with 23/24: 1.34)?!

I wonder where he's getting his xGA stats from? I've checked a few different tables and most of them seem to have us in the top half for xGA.

https://footystats.org/england/championship/xg and https://www.infogol.net/en/leagues/english-football-league-championship-table-2022-23/439 for example.

I don't really know how accurate they are mind.

At the same time Steve Cooper's sides were consistently rated very badly on the XG tables and finished in the playoffs twice, so the system isn't perfect.

xG has got to be the biggest load of old bollocks ever invented.

It's like saying if I could have just avoided wrapping my car around a lamppost, then I wouldn't have had a car crash.

Or if I'd just removed the bullets from the gun before pointing it at my head and pulling the trigger, I'd be alive.

It's meaningless bollocks, the only purpose it serves is for managers to use it liberally as they see fit to defend or justify themselves. As we're seeing here.

"I'd rather be 5th in the xG against and get beat by Cardiff twice"

Never mind that you tw@t, where are we, and how many have we won ?
Jesus mother of God.

Never mind what the fancy computer modelling says, if you do the simple maths we have collected 3 out of 21 possible points from the first 7 games.

At that rate our expected points total after 46 games is 16. Forget about the “XG” bollocks - that stat means “R”. Get real Duff.

Look at the positives, we've got two points more than we did at this stage last season

I think!

We had 6 points after 7 games last season (I think)

Soon as Duff realises that Grimes and Fulton are still playing martinball the better.. nothing still being created by them

Grimes and Fulton may not be showy or spectacular, but the reality is under Potter, Cooper and Martin they have proven themselves to be reasonably competent Championship central midfielders.

If they left tomorrow, I'd not shed a single tear, but let's be clear on this, they are not the problem at the club right now. They'd be right at the bottom of most people's list of 'sh*t that needs sorting out*.
