They call it "Jammy and vibrant". I don't like it as, for a red wine, it is far too sweet. Anyone like this newish entry into the red wine market?

Any other wines PS can recommend at the moment? Barolo springs to mind at the Ponderosa!

My missus loves it and also jam shed, she wont drink anything else, she sends me out with my tail between my legs if I bring anything different home 🙄

For everyday drinking try the Barefoot Californian Malbec (double gold winner) or Majestic do a Spanish red called The Guvnor.

You can try a couple of Italian whites from Tesco, Passerina and Pecorino. One of them has a nice label with birds on it.

They do a non alcoholic version too, it’s called Ribena. I thought Merlot was bad enough.

My local supermarket Mercadona stocks the Guv'nor. Good, full bodied sipping red. Don't want to upset you too much, boys, but it's 2 euros a bottle over here!

Bryn, you are spot on it is so sweet it's almost sickly.
The type of woman who raves about it is probably very uneducated in wines.

Yes, I am a wine snob.

I once bought a bottle when I couldn’t get the Shiraz and was distinctly unimpressed. Lesson learned and all that.

One that I’ve mentioned on here a few times is Trapiche. If you can get it when it’s on offer for in Tesco for £6 then it’s an absolute steal.

I have edged towards white recently and I do enjoy the Calvet Sauv Blanc, again it’s sometimes on offer for £6. It also agrees with me, had two bottles last night and I’m fighting fit this morning.

Blended with a port-style wine. Jammy Red Roo is vile.

The Guv’nor is very good.

Pego- there is a nice Jumilla blend in Mercadona ‘El Mayoral’ - armchair on the label.
Good if you like a big rich red.

Listen to the Prof, Bryn and coops is the lesson here.
It's all about personal taste of course, but I get annoyed with people who automatically say something is fantastic when they haven't the experience to compare it with other more expensive/less expensive stuff.
I often see people go worng with prosecco. They automatically assume expensive means better.
I've seen DOCG prosecco's for £5/£6ignored as they are less than "this one in a lovely bottle" for £8.
Educate yourself and enjoy 👍

I think it's about £7 here :x

Cheers, Prof, I'll check it out.

Here’s another regular, just had a browse and seen that’s it’s down in price by a pound (to £6.50). I’ve got one lined up in the rack ready for tonight.

Goes very well with doner kebab, Bryn

Wise words Dicky. There's some good wines out there in UK supermarkets-Aldi I find most impressive. Their wine and spirits buyers do a great job. Generally there is better value out there than the brands like "Yellow Tail, 19 crimes etc." Not that they are bad wines, they are not-but finding the Estevez Chilean wines in Aldi have a lot of bang for the buck.

I've bought the lamb mince Cwps from the knock off bin in Tesco and its in the freezer cos we're having a Chinese or curry delivery this evening after we turn the Scots inside out. 🙄 Tesco only sell lamb mince with 20%fat though, whilst the recipe says to use 5%. Our butcher in the Bont shut down about 30 years ago. Got to go to Gorseinon now for a decent butcher.

Yellow tail rose is a lovely drop. Bottle in the fridge for later. I avoid red wine, turns your shit black. And I’ve been off white wine since my brother nearly killed me with it in a sesh down in Devon a few years ago.
