Just Plain Stupid

Tony Petty was rumoured to be in attendance at the Luton game tomorrow after being away for over two weeks, coincidentally since he shook up the first team squad and caused uproar amongst the fans!!!

We believed that he was due to fly into Britain either Wednesday or Thursday, indeed he may well have done but all investigations are suggesting that he will not be at the game tomorrow.

Now onto the stupidity. Mike Lewis, it has been revealed, turned down an cash injection of ร‚ยฃ400,000 from Mel Nurse back in August as the club slumped into more cash problems as he struggled to find an investor. It now seems quite clear why he was struggling to find an investor as he told Mel that to put money into the club would “be like pouring it down a black hole”

Now if that is what he said to all people looking to buy the club then no wonder he said that “never met before old friend” Tony Petty was his only option when he took over.

Speaking to Gareth Vincent at the Evening Post, Lewis says “Mel earned peanuts when he was playing football and he has had to work hard for his money. It just wouldn’t have been right. I remember the day Mel made his offer. It was on Swansea City’s golf day and it brought a tear to my eye because at that stage I was getting a no from everybody. I sat down with Mel and discussed the offer with him. My initial reaction was to take the money but I could never face him again if things went wrong” (Where did the conscience come from Mike?)

Excuse me for thinking that if someone wanted to invest ร‚ยฃ400k and, as a director you would assume that Mel had a reasonable idea of the state of the club, then as someone instructed to find new investment you would be just a little on the mad side to say no. Fine, explain the situation in full but leave the decision up to the individual.

Mel himself criticises Lewis’ decision to sell to Petty in the same article saying “On the basis of what has happened – how the business has been run – I think Mike has made a mistake”

Remember Lewis saying that no-one came forward there was just alot of people saying they would but not acting ? Well this one just proves that the man struggles extremely to tell the truth on most occasions.

Fulham’s club call must have been entertaining at times on this basis ๐Ÿ˜‰
