Nugent To Sign?

Nugent has missed the last two games though injury but is on course to return at the Vetch on Saturday afternoon as the Swans bid to put Tuesday’s 3-0 reverse at Bournemouth behind them.

Speaking on the official site, Flynn said: ” I’ve spoken to Paul Brush today and he has confirmed to me that Orient are willing to release Kevin in order for him to sign for us. That’s great news for us and I’ll be sitting down with the player on Thursday afternoon to discuss terms. The impression I get from previous conversations with Kevin is that he wants to stay here.” We’ve still got a few things to sort out, but hopefully by the time we face Cambridge, Kevin will have signed on a free transfer, initially until the end of the season but with a view to staying beyond that.”

Nugent himself is keen to stay, saying on the same forum last week when asked if he would say he said: ” Hopefully that will happen, but it’s pretty much out of my hands really. I’ve already spoken to the manager about it, but I don’t know what the outcome will be. It’s got to be in the best interests of all three parties, and I don’t know what Leyton Orient have said about it, so I’ll just concentrate on playing for now.” They’ve signed Gary Alexander from Hull, so they’ve got 8 centre forwards there now. If I go back it’s going to be difficult to get into the team. Sometimes, if a player does well out on loan, his club sits up and takes notice, and that might happen with me, they could say they want me back at Brisbane Road. It’s happened to a few Orient lads who’ve done well on loan and are now back in the side, so I really don’t know what’s going to happen.”

All we can hope is that Flynn is able to extend the services of a player who was doubted by most when he arrived but has silenced the critics with his goals which have put us in with a fighting chance to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, Brian Flynn has also stated that he will bring in a goalkeeper ahead of the Wrexham game with the likelihood being that the new signing will be here until the end of the season. Possible targets are rumoured to include Tony Pennock from Farnborough Town and Mark Walton from Cardiff City. With Roger suspended for the game, Flynn is left with no option but ti dip back into the market and he has stated that he has a couple of targets lined up ready.
