I’d Help Ferrie Leave Says Roberto

But he also insisted that there is no way the midfielder was currently looking to leave the Liberty Stadium and that reports in his homeland last week were Ferrie being misquoted and that he was more than happy with life at the Liberty.

Bodde scored the winning goal after seemingly being set to be taken off on Tuesday night against Walsall and has earned rave reviews throughout the season – blighted only by two red cards against Doncaster and Leeds.

Talking to the Evening Post the Swans boss said “First and foremost, I’d say that if any player gets any kind of attention, it’s because they’re playing good football

“It means they are doing well for Swansea and they’re enjoying their football, and that’s a good thing which I like.

“In Ferrie’s case, if Ajax, Feyenoord or PSV Eindhoven came in, I would be the first one to help him go.

“I would do that because he would have done something really good with us to attract them. But there is a huge gap from that to a magazine article saying Ferrie wants away.

“Every player should have ambition,” Martinez added, “and hopefully we can give football at a higher level to Ferrie here.

“But when players talk about going somewhere else, it’s not disrespectful to Swansea.

“It’s about players wanting to play in the best competitions in the world, and I’m sure if Arsenal came in for Darren Pratley, he would love to go.

“But ask any one of the players and they will tell you they’re enjoying their football at Swansea.

“If they attract bigger teams, that means they’re doing well and that will be a compliment to Swansea.

“But everyone at this club is playing with a smile at the moment and there is no reason for anyone to want to leave.”

And why should they as the club heads towards the Championship.
