Church told the Evening Post “For me he was a really good, top coach, especially for young players,
“I was sorry to see him go because I had him in the youth team as well for a little bit and I enjoyed playing football under him.
“Things weren’t going our way, so it was one of those things where, if it doesn’t happen at one club, it happens at another.
“I’m sure the way Swansea are going something good will happen eventually, especially with Brendan in charge because he puts everything into it.
“He puts his whole life into it so I’m sure they’ll do really well.
“He’s got a modern style of football which I think suits Swansea,” said the striker.
“For us, maybe we didn’t quite have the players who could do that or we weren’t really used to the style of football.
“I think with Swansea, he’s come in and straightaway he’s felt comfortable. The players I’m sure will love him because his training sessions are unbelievable.
“There will be loads of players that I know and want to play against and there will be a bit of banter before the game,” he added.
“Hopefully I’ll get the chance to play and put one over on them.
“But we know Swansea have good players and are a side we have to watch.”
