The Reading manager echoed the words of his Chairman who both believe that Brendan – a Reading lad and a Reading fan – should be welcomed back to the club that he left just 10 months ago.
Speaking on the eve of Rodgers’ return to the Madejski Stadium, McDermott said “He’s a Reading lad and a Reading fan
“His father-in-law works at the training ground and I am sure he will get a good reception.
“There’s no reason why he shouldn’t.”
“It’s a great opportunity to welcome back Brendan Rodgers,” said chairmanย John Madejski.
“I’m glad he’s doing so well at Swansea and I wish him all the best โ although sadly I can’t wish him all the best on Saturday because we need the three points.
“Nevertheless, it’s nice to welcome Brendan back and I wish him every success in his career, as I have always done.
“He was a very good servant and deserves a place in all our hearts as someone who gave great service to our football club.
“I certainly will shake his hand fondly when I see him.”
