The Swansea City wide man has not been used as much as he would have liked and admits that he may have to move on to find the first team football that he is craving
And he admits that he has taken the first step on that road by instructing his agent to look around suggesting that he may already appreciate that his future is away from the Liberty Stadium.
“I want to play, and if I don’t play I want to play somewhere else,” said van der Gun in tonight’s Evening Post.
“I’m a professional football player, I come from abroad and the only reason I’m here is to play football.
“I’m really serious when I say, every minute I don’t play I’m not happy.
“I believe this team has got great quality so we can have success this year, but I want to be a part of that โ that’s the most important thing for me.
“I’ve told my agent to look around, because if there’s a good opportunity, I’ll go.
“I want to stay in theย English Leagueย because I like it, but you have to be realistic and if something else comes in, no problem.
“I’m training well and I’m playing well so it’s frustrating, and the manager knows I’m not happy so it’s no surprise.
“I feel very good about the way I’m playing and I’m getting more minutes, but in the end only one thing is important, I want to play in the first XI.
“I feel physically fit, I feel I’m in good form and I can play in different positions,” added van der Gun.
“It depends where the gaffer needs me and as long as Scott is doing really well, I’m probably not going to start as a winger, so I need to focus on somewhere else.
“I’m not someone who just sits on the bench, I’m not happy with that.
“The manager has said to me, ‘you’re playing well and you’re training well’, so we’ll have to see how many minutes I play.
“We’ll have to see where it gets me.”
