Millen – That Was Our Best Yet

Swansea City lost their unbeaten home record thanks to an early goal from Jon Stead that gave the visitors all the spoils on a disappointing night at the Liberty Stadium.

And that factor prompted the positive comments from Bristol City manager Keith Millen who told the Bristol Evening Post after the game “That was our most complete performance of the season

“It’s especially pleasing when you construct a game-plan and see your players carry it out to the letter. I thought the lads were magnificent. They defended well, worked hard for one another, kept their shape and discipline and, in the end, could have won the game by a wider margin.

“To come here, keep a clean sheet and beat a very good team takes some doing and the lads will take a lot of confidence from this performance. That’s the best we’ve played this season.

“I emphasised the importance of being positive and not trying to just defend for 90 minutes

We were bold in our team selection and played with two up front and wingers and it paid off.

“I didn’t want us to sit back and soak up pressure and I talked to the players about getting on the front foot and causing Swansea problems. We started the game brilliantly and the early goal helped us massively.

“I thought Macca epitomised the spirit we have in the side, he was unwell just before the game and we thought about leaving him out.

“But he wanted to play, even after getting a dead leg in the first half, and his spirit and fight was fantastic.

“As for Louis, I thought he was excellent against a very dangerous player. He used all his experience and knowhow to keep Sinclair quiet.”
