The Swansea City midfielder has made some impressive appearances for the team since his return from injury but has yet to feel as if he has cemented the place he craves in the midfield.
Another impressive display at Doncaster on Saturday appears to have placed him in the front line to start on Friday night against Portsmouth and that is just the start of his aims at the moment.
โI have to step up my game now to get in the starting eleven,โ he told the Western Mail.
โI am ready to go and get promotion with Swansea City.
โDefence is not my usual position but if the team needs me and the gaffer puts me in there I will do my best to help bring the points home.
โI will always try to bring my own quality into the game and hopefully I proved that with the final ball for the goal.
โI have to keep going myself because I have just come back from injury.
โIโve worked hard and itโs not easy to come into the team because everybody is playing well and the team is doing good.
โBut if I keep going like this Iโm sure my chance will come.
โI donโt feel as if I have to prove my quality to the rest of the squad, I think everybody knows it and that is why the gaffer put me on at the end.
โI always prepare as if I am going to play every game.
โOf course itโs disappointing when you donโt but if the gaffer makes a decision I have to deal with that.
โI have to make sure when I get on the pitch I can prove my ability and show the gaffer he is wrong.
โWe have to believe that we are the best and then go out and prove it.
โTeams have to think about us.
โThe only time we will have problems is if we donโt play our own game.
โWe have to keep the confidence and trust in ourselves to keep moving forward.โ
