“In relation to the way we played it was a point gained,”ย Rodgers told the official website after the gameย “I thought we were very poor tonight. Across our game we were nowhere near our level.
“We scored a great goal from a set-piece and then conceded a very poor goal. The goal was like watching an under-7s game on a Sunday – jam jar football.
“We were very thankful in the end to our ‘keeper who made a number of wonderful saves.
“But let’s not forget that Watford are a good side and I think when we look back in a few weeks time we will see it as a point gained, because when you normally play that bad you lose.
“I’ve always said that if you pick up three points at home and one away, then you’ll get promoted. Well at the moment we are doing it the other way around.
“My message to everyone at the moment is to stay patient. We’ve got to be patient as a team and in the stands.
“The supporters have been magnificent so far this season and one of the main attractions for me coming here is their patience and understanding of the way we play.
“If we lose our identity and style then we won’t be effective as a team.
“We’ve just got to lick our wounds and come 4.45pm on Saturday it may look like a good point.”
