Darren Pratley’s goal was enough to put the Swans into 2nd place in the Championship table but Rodgers was setting his sights higher when he spoke to the official site after the game
“Our job now is to chase the club (QPR) in front of us, we don’t want to be second, we want to be first.
“The race is still on to get to the very top, but there’s a long journey ahead of us and we must remain focussed.
“We’ve tried on two or three occasions to get into second spot, but we’ve faltered each time, so it’s nice to finally get there. It’s great for the players, the club and the city.
“What you’ve got to remember is that some clubs in this league have spent a fortune, so it shows how well this group has done.
“They’ve stuck by our identity, style and philosophy and deserve to be where they are.
“It’s not how you fall, it’s how you get up that counts,
“To win our last two games with clean sheets shows the courage and bravery in the group because some teams could have crumbled.
“It was another fantastic result today against a very good team that has been on a good run. I know how good the Reading players are and I knew they would keep going until the final whistle.
“We had enough chances to kill the game off, but we didn’t take them, which was the only real negative, because we couldn’t relax until the final whistle went.”
