“He is the ultimate pro and the players love him here. I’m really happy for him because he’s had a bit of stick of late.
“But it’s very important in life to feel valued and he was excellent today. That goal will do wonders for him.
“He is a wonderful pro, he wanted to sign a new contract in the summer, but for whatever reason it didn’t happen.
“As a player I can’t ask any more of him. He’s a good guy, doesn’t give me any problems and works hard. And as a manager it’s my job to support him.”
