Slade: I’m Very Proud

A late Alan Tate own goal gave Leyton Orient a surprise win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium to move them into the 5th Round of the FA Cup.

And Slade singled goalkeeper Jamie Jones out after the game for praise “I’m very proud we have managed to get to the last 16 of the FA Cup.” he said

“It’s a great competition especially for lower league sides and we will carry the flag for League One.

“It was a good defensive display and I knew before the game that Jamie was going to have to make saves.

“I was pleased with his performance and he made good saves.

“I really think Jamie can play in the Premier League. He came to Orient like a lot of players who lose their opportunity in the top flight and has been given the chance to rebuild.

“It’s hard for players like that but Jamie is made of the right stuff. He’s worked hard at his game to come back. He’s played almost 70 games for the club at the age of 21.

“Players like Jamie are important to League One clubs because we can relaunch their careers and push them on to become Championship or even Premier League players again.”
