Joe Allen will be fit for Sunday’s game with Aston Villa according to manager Brendan Rodgers
Allen sat out the first half of last Sturday’s defeat to Manchester United before being introduced as a half time substitute but he will now be fit for Sunday’s clash that could see the Swans move above the Villains with a victory.
Rodgers saidย “Joe will be ready for Aston Villa
“His reaction after coming on against United was pleasing.
“We could not play Joe from the start of the game because our squad is only thin and we cannot afford to lose someone like him.
“We would have been risking losing Joe for six weeks if he had played the whole game, but you saw the impact he had when he came on.
“I thought Wayne was excellent in there for us against United,” insisted Rodgers.
“But Joe has been outstanding for us in that position this season.
“To put that third midfield player on in the second half last Saturday was important for us.
“Joe is influential for us, and he is also a reference point for our pressing game, which is crucial in that midfield area.”
