Scott Targeting More Goals

Scott Sinclar is targeting more goals after scoring his first from open play this season in the 2-0 win over Fulham

Sinclair was credited with his first goal despite a big deflection from Clint Dempsey that led some to dispute whether the goal should be credited to Scott or not.

“I’m definitely claiming it. If you get the shot on target it’s your goal so I’m definitely counting that as one of mine

“It got that deflection and perhaps I needed that bounce of the ball.

“I still had confidence and was putting in the work but it wasn’t going for me. It did on Saturday and hopefully I can go on a run now and kick on.

“I’m a goalscoring winger. I need to contribute with goals and I’m always hungry to score and you can see that.”

And while Sinclair and Danny Graham scored the goals that sealed victory, Scott had special praise for goalkeeper Michel Vorm whose man of the match performance included a penalty save from the unlucky Dempsey

“He’s a top-class goalie. Every day he works so hard and you can see that pay off in games like this where he showed what a top keeper he is. His contribution to the team is exceptional,” said the winger.

“You could name the whole team as man of the match but Vorm was exceptional and kept us in it.

“It was a great penalty save. He’s a quality, quality keeper who has settled into the side straightaway and he’s showing what a good signing he is.

“It was great to see Danny come off the bench and get the goal and it shows the strength we’ve got in our subs and squad,” said Sinclair.

“The gaffer changed the team a little bit and it allowed us to have a top-class goalscorer like Danny come on and make an impact like he did.

“The dressing room was buzzing. It was a great result for us and great for Michel to make that save to spur us on. We know it was a good three points for us.

“We picked the pace up in the second half. We’d given ourselves a platform at 0-0 at half-time and then it was down to us to turn the possession into goals which we did.

“The defence was very strong and if we keep playing like that hopefully we can keep getting the wins.

“It was a very important win, but so is every one in the Premier League,” Sinclair added.

“We need to pick up points and keep winning at home.

“We’ll go to Newcastle full of confidence and hopefully we’ll get something out of the game.

“Everyone’s going to be buzzing and ready for training.”
