Swansea City have admitted interest in Preston’s Jamie Proctor as they get ready for the start of the January transfer window
With the club in 11th place in the Premier League, the Swns are well aware that the right moves in the transfer window could ensure at least a second season in the division and another ยฃ40m windfall to boot.
Although budgets are not likely to be massive at the club, they have a proven record in picking up quality players for the right prices – clearly demonstrated by their rise through the divisions in recent years.
And that could be set to continue in January with Preston’s Jamie Proctor on the radar as confirmed by Chairman Huw Jenkinsย โHe is one of a number of young prospects we are currently looking at” says Jenkins in today’s Western Mail.
The Swans have also reached an agreement with NEC for midfielder John Goossens but have yet to open talks with the player with Brendan Rodgers sayingย โHeโs a good technician, a central midfielder who can play wide and a very technical player with a great shot.
โHe can deal with the ball which is important for us. He came through the system at Ajax before going to NEC so he is a young player who can develop.โ
They are also still looking aty Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly whilst have also made enquiries to Blackburn for Keith Andrews who is currently on loan at Ipswich. ย Whilst they seem prepared to meet Blackburn’s valuation on the player (reported to be around ยฃ2m) the Western Mail reports that they are being put off by his alleged wage demands of ยฃ25,000 per week.
