Ash – If We Can Do It At Villa, We Can Do It Anywhere

Ashley Williams believes that the Swans first away win of the season could be the first of many

THe Swans finally broke their away day duck with a comprehensive 2-0 win at Villa Park on Monday and Williams thinks that could be the first of several away wins this season

He told the Western Mailย โ€œWeโ€™ve proved we can do it so there can be no excuses now

โ€œIf we can do it at Villa, we can do it anywhere.

โ€œWe proved to ourselves we can win at a place like Villa Park and also dominate the game.

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t a smash and grab, I donโ€™t think many people can say we didnโ€™t deserve it.

โ€œWe started fast and finished strong so it was close to perfect.

โ€œI donโ€™t think weโ€™ve thought about it too much. Obviously the media and the gaffer kept barking on about it.

โ€œNormally youโ€™re quite happy if youโ€™re winning at home. As long as youโ€™re looking after your home form, which weโ€™re doing, you get what you can on the road. But we probably needed a win so to come to a place like this and get it is fantastic.

โ€œI looked up at the clock when it said 85 minutes and I thought this is the sort of time it started going wrong.

โ€œBut it wasnโ€™t the same feeling โ€“ we werenโ€™t vulnerable. We were in control.

โ€œThey were putting the pressure on like we knew they would, but we were knocking it back. After the Wolves game we said it wasnโ€™t so much of a bad thing because we learned so much that day.

โ€œMonday was one of those days where you could see lessons were learned.

โ€œWe defended superbly as a team. Apart from the last chance in the last minute they didnโ€™t create that much. Weโ€™ve defended well all season apart from in the odd game and we have to keep that going.

โ€œEveryone has contributed over the last week,โ€ added Williams. โ€œPeople like (Andrea) Orlandi, (Stephen) Dobbie and Luke Moore have come in and done brilliantly.

โ€œI donโ€™t think people realise how difficult it is to come in when you havenโ€™t been playing because youโ€™re not as fit as the rest of the team.

โ€œItโ€™s been a real squad effort and we want to keep it going.โ€
