Brendan Rodgers believes that Danny Graham is right up there as one of the best English strikers around
Graham finds himself in the Top 10 goalscorers chart this season in the Premier League – one of only two Englishment (Wayne Rooney is the other) in that lofty position.
And with an England squad being named on Thursday there is a chance that the name Graham could be included given his recent good form.
And Rodgers told the Western Mailย โDanny has been fantastic this season
โAnd I have always said I think he is right up there with the top English strikers around.
โIf he continues to work the way he has been working, you never know what could happen with Euro 2012.
โIf he is going to be up around 15 or 20 goals by the end of the season, which I feel he can be, then he will be one of few English players who has achieved that.
โHe has played regularly too, so certainly it will be interesting to see the England squad at the end of the season.
โHis strike rate in the Premier League is near enough one in two and at this level that is superb,โ Rodgers added.
โDanny is a player who wants to score goals.
โHe works very hard on his game and he is what I would describe as a player of dominance for us.
โBy that I mean someone who really affects games. Danny does that by scoring goals and through his physical presence and his intensity for the team.
โTeams are made up of many different types, but the successful teams have a list of dominant players, and Danny is certainly one of those.
โI think he will continue to flourish because, as he has proved, he does not need many chances to score a goal.
โHe is a player who has great character and he will not get carried away by any attention he receives.
โAll he can do is keep doing what he has been doing โ playing well and working hard,โ added Rodgers.
โIf he does that, the natural consequence will be that he gets goals because when he gets chances, he usually puts them away.โ
