John Hartson has backed Danny Graham to score more than his best season in the Premier League
Hartson grabbed 15 goals in his most prolific season in the Premier League and with Graham on 10 Premier League goals already, he is well poised to better the tally of Hartson.
Hartson told the official siteย “Danny has done very well. A lot of people questioned whether he would survive at this level, particularly after it took a few games to get his first goal
“It does take time to get going at a level like the Premier League. It took me seven games to get my first goal for Celtic.
“They spent ยฃ6million on me and it did play on my mind. But I got a hat-trick on the seventh game and ended up with 110 goals for the club in five years.
“Danny got his first goal and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s certainly repaid his fee already.
“Ultimately, as a striker you are judged on goals. Danny has delivered on that front with ten league goals already.
“My best in the Premier League was 15 but I think Danny can get 16. With the form he is in I can see him getting one in every two of the remaining games.
“Goals are the icing on the cake, but the genuine supporters and management realise what he does for the team.
“He wins a lot of headers, draws fouls, he gets wide to ease the pressure on the wide players and drops back to defend too.
“So he’s been an absolutely fantastic signing, and the best thing is there’s more to come from him.
“Considering it’s their first season, you have to say they have been exceptional,” he said with a smile.
“The Premier League is a huge jump in the Championship. It’s not only the fact they are holding their own – it’s the way they have done it.
“It can be a culture shock on an off the field, but the way the club has handled it is great.
“I’ve never doubted the club beating relegation. They are a good side and are better than the clubs down the bottom.
“There are 13 games to go with 39 points on offer. Can Swansea get nine points? I definitely think so.
“But I don’t think Swansea will only stay up – I can see them finishing between 11-13th place.”
