Swans making move for Liverpool midfielder

As was suggested first on these pages back in May, the Swans are today reported to still be looking at the possibility of bringing Harry Wilson to the Liberty for a loan spell next season.

It was the day after the Wales international grabbed a hat-trick for Cardiff City that it was first aired that the Swans would be interested in Wilson and this morning the national newspapers have picked up on the same suggestion although there could be a stumbling block in that Liverpool would prefer a sale of the player rather than a loan deal.

That though is not stopping the Swans making an enquiry for the second summer running.ย  Last summer it was the wages of Wilson that created the stumbling block for the Swans and he moved just further up the M4 to Cardiff instead.

However it is now suggested that the Swans will be looking to try and pull together a financial package to make the deal happen and add a further option to a midfield that all too often last season was found to be static and lacking in creativity.

Speaking before the end of the season, Wilson saidย โ€œMy focus is on finishing the season strong here at Cardiff and then going to the Euros with Wales and doing well there.

โ€œWhatever happens off the back of that will happen.

โ€œI think it would be silly of me to look beyond that with such an important summer coming up in the international level.โ€

The Swans ability to put together any financial package is probably still dependent on someone leaving the Liberty for a sale although the release of Andre Ayew has freed up a significant amount of wage bill expense, some of which could be directed towards Wilson.

The good news is the Swans are in the hunt and that shows a level of ambition that has been questioned on more than one occasion so let’s see how this pans out (and probably hope that there isn’t anyone eyeing up a permanent move!)
